IPCC Scope

SOP products also enable farmers and breeders to reduce their direct and indirect CO₂-equivalent emissions (“mitigation”), addressing the three Scopes defined by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).

SCOPE 1 - DIRECT EMISSIONS

by reducing emissions from manure, enteric emissions from cattle, and emissions from fertilizers in the fields.

SCOPE 2 – INDIRECT EMISSIONS FROM ELECTRICITY

by reducing energy consumption for slurry agitation and pumping, for forced barn ventilation, as the air becomes less saturated with ammonia and odors, and for the spreading of chemical fertilizers.

SCOPE 3 - INDIRECT EMISSIONS

by limiting or eliminating the use of chemical fertilizers, thereby reducing the emissions associated with their production and transport (LCA).
