SDG 5. GENDER EQUALITY
By reducing odors and ammonia, SOP products help create a better working environment for all operators. They also reduce or eliminate the use of chemical fertilizers, the handling of which is physically demanding, particularly for women and girls. In addition, in many farms women and girls are often responsible for calves; lowering ammonia levels in calf barns contributes to improved working conditions.

SOP products improve the efficiency of digesters in generating biogas from waste matrices for the production of electricity. By enhancing slurry fluidity, they reduce or eliminate the need for agitation and the associated energy consumption. The reduction or elimination of chemical fertilizers leads to energy savings in their application in the fields, as well as a reduction or elimination of their life cycle impact (LCA).

By lowering odor and ammonia emissions in barns and during slurry application, operators can live and work in significantly better conditions. Moreover, the positive ROI achievable with SOP, both in livestock farming and crop production, allows part of the profits to be reinvested in improving employee salaries.

The drastic reduction of ammonia emissions achieved with SOP products helps decrease the impact of farming activities on water acidification. Lower use of chemical fertilizers reduces the eutrophication of surface waters and, consequently, of seas (e.g., cyanobacteria in lakes and marine habitats).
